A Few More Quilt Festival Pics

Do you see what those are?

and this is a different quilt (below) by the same artist....
and it photographed like it was different colors...
but in person the one below looked to be one color...

My shot of the description of the top quilt cut off the edge....
but it's twist ties!
The poppy quilt above.......  description didn't explain the background...
I'm guessing the artist wrote in white on the background,
it wasn't stitched.
I'd like to think it was cheater cloth.... but we all now it wasn't!!!
And, yes, this one looked like a photograph...
I don't think there were as many art quilts as in the past...
I like art quilts....

and

for your shopping pleasure...
Some of my favorite vendors....
Pink Eyed Sissies

I failed to mention last post that
this was the 26th year in a row for
BFF Virginia and I to attend together!

Obsessed Friends

You know from the title of my blog that I have obsessions.
So I see that as a good word!
I mean..... WHO doesn't?
Do you have any friends that have obsessions you can benefit from?
If not... you should find some.
I have a friend that is currently (note these things change) obsessed with embroidery and related stitching.
If you are new to my blog,
I will tell you that during 2010
we have been exchanging what we call "fragments" of stitching.
Whatever that means!
If you go up in the top left corner you can search Embroidery on my blog and see a bunch!
So BFF Virginia (often referred to as BFFV) gave me her piece for July a couple of weeks ago.
So now I have to make my July fragment.
But this is what she gave me for July to satisfy her need to do a white on white piece.
And since my daughter gets married the end of this month...
it is the "bridal fragment"!!!!
Isn't it lovely!!!
And she also gave me a little blank book to sketch in.
We both are always drawing things we want to stitch.
BFFV is all about being able to grab it and take it with her
or keep it in her purse if caught off guard.
We both have several accessories to carry our embroidery stuff around in.
About a week ago I went to pick my car up from a small repair
and ended up having to wait almost 2 hours because I found
something else wrong with it.
OMG!!!
If only I had had my emergency purse sized stitching kit!
I am now in the process of assembling that!
You never know when you might need it.
Doncha love the machine embroidered muslin strip?
Do you have an obsessed friend you can benefit from?
Do your friends benefit from any of your obsessions?
Just asking.......

May Embroidery!

Virginia came over yesterday to visit the post-op one!
We exchanged our stitched pieces for May for our embroidered fragments swap...
Above is the one I gave her. You might recognize it from a pattern of little girls walking along.
I just took two of the girls out and did them and added the word "friend".
Below is what Virginia did for me...
And below is what I've made for a QB5 embroidery swap that is moving along quite slowly! ha! I embroidered in the corner of an old linen napkin
and will mail it to Margaret for her to add something
to it.

Time Marches On...

Look what I got in the mail on Saturday!
Anna made this for me...
a little stitchery made into a pillow
in remembrance of Charley.
Isn't that the sweetest!
Anna is a dear friend that moved far away,
but we are able to stay in close touch because we rock the internet!
I know you are waiting to see the March fragments
that Virginia and I exchanged.....
First up is the piece she made for me...... so sweet ....
What you really need to remember about Virginia
is she never just makes one.
She makes one for me and one for herself.
I do well to make one of anything.... below is what I made for her.
I saw it here!

White Dresses

Isn't this beautiful!
BFF Virginia's DH brought this home to her recently.
He was helping go through possessions of a dearly departed uncle.
I knew you'd appreciate the work shown here.
Do your loved ones know what to bring home to you?

Monthly Challenges

BFF Virginia and I are in a monthly embroidery fragment challenge!
We are the only players in this challenge.
We just trade with each other.
Thought it was time to show you some of what we've been doing.
Above is the piece I got from Virginia in January!
Below is the fragment she gave me for February!

Next is the one I gave her for February.

This is the heart Teresa did on her recent Valentine's Ezine.

But if you didn't subscribe to that you can also see a little one here.

And below is the piece I contributed in January....
If you turn your head it says path. I think I'm more primitive than Virginia? We shall see........
