Art for Haiti

Rebecca Sower had just returned home
from a trip to Haiti when the earthquake struck.
I know most of you are aware of her trips to help others.
She had brought some of
the artwork of the Haitian people
home to sell for them.
That effort has now become a place for us
to buy and sell our art to help them.
Be sure and check out Haiti by Hand!

Zip This!

The Queen Bee 5 are always up to something! I showed you what I sent them... we had to make brooches and some kind of danglie thing or charm!
Now that all have received Patty's, I can show you!
I had always admired these flowers she makes from zippers!
Imagine how thrilled I was to find that was what she did for her brooches... I love this so much!
This was a great swap for me because I do like to wear pins!
Below are the not one...but two... charms she sent!
I love bird's nest charms!
And the other charm is an altered game
piece!!
I love how she packaged everything, too....
Patty, I need that bird rubber stamp.
Who is that by?

I still have three more packages to receive!!!

The Harry & David Cherries...

Have you had the chocolate covered bing cherries from Harry & David?
We got a basket at Christmas
that had a small box of them.
I love them.
I love them a lot!
I finished the construction of my Remains of the Day Journal...
...for those of you that have decided to hold me accountable
to finishing my projects... you know who you are...
Here's the back.......
Here is an obligatory inside page.... these are ALL OVER the internet... Everyone is making these...except for my closest friends, of course. But I got my signatures sewn in... now I need to start journaling!!!

Wasted Days and Wasted Nights

If you aren't singing right now... wasted days and wasted nights... you aren't from Texas.... or a country music lover... Anyway...... I didn't get ANY art done yesterday. My Remains of the Day journal remains unfinished. But here are some glimpses...
All the members of the swap I am in with brooches and dangles have received MINE... so here is a peek... This is one I made for a local friend, Brenda, for her birthday. She's a Master Gardener... so she needs a flower pin, right?
I forgot (of course) to take a photo of all 4 brooches together.... but...
These are all blatant copies of the one BFF Virginia made for some of her Silver Bella buddies!
I do reproductions pretty well, doncha think?

Photoshopping Remains of the Day Romance!

This is my "take" on Teresa's "love shack" over on the Paper Romance Ezine. There is a heart hanging inside that you can see through the window. And I, too, have been captured by Mary Ann Moss' Remains of the Day Journals.... Just scroll down her page to see them...

I assembled the outside yesterday...

will make my tie in a few minutes...

and then begin my signatures. I am sooooooooo loving this class!

Oh...and that shot was taken before I did my free-motion stitching all over the top!
Also I am taking D.J. Pettit's Photoshop class!!!
I am not doing as well in it.... but I will persevere!!!!

Tears for Haiti

I've been consumed with Haiti the last few days as I know most of you have. It is so heartbreaking. This morning I stitched a broken heart shedding tears....it's rather primitive.... but it was theraputic for me. Rebecca Sower returned from Haiti just over a week ago and had been sharing stories about it on her blog.
She continues to be a window for us to peer through. I also thought Patty's post the other day was beautiful! The Red Cross is a great place to send your money to aid in this disaster relief.
Please pray and give as you can.

Banner Envy!

Why don't I think of things like this? You must go here and look at her banner! It would be wrong of me to copy that...right?

State of Freeze

While being frozen ....
this child of the south stays inside....
so I've been busy in the art room..
I finished my brooches for one swap...which I'm not showing yet.
And I finished my danglies or whatever they are called for the QB5 swap....
above is a tease!
After completing them...I
watched tutorials
on wire wrapping.
But...I am NOT redoing these!!!
Fortunately, my mail still arrives....
I got this scrumptious winter delight this week
from Katie..aka Ragamuffingal!
There is a green mitten in that box with bells on it!!
I think the Winter Wishes bottle has brought the bird community
together out of curiosity...

I also added some links to my blog roll there to the left, and removed some that have not updated in forever!

Is it cold where you are?

No, didn't think you did!
I got the last two in early December!
Marked down more than half price...
one for me and one for BFF Virginia!

The birds that got packed up in favor of Santa collection

were removed from their

hibernation this week....

they seem to be happy...

but slightly gossipy...

It seems to have caused a twitter....

Where I spent my New Year's Eve...

For the last 30 years DH and I have spent the evening with
our dear friends David and Virginia. It started out with
a group of about 6 couples and over the years has
changed.... the only consistent part is the four of us.
When we lived in California we flew back for it.
In 2003 my dad was in the ER... that's the only year we missed.
After 30 years of celebrating the arrival of the new year,
we've gotten a little quieter and Virginia and I often
make something or at least talk about making something.
We did complete a project that night...
but can't show my QB5 friends yet!
but until then.... here is what I saw...
Virginia made the little penguin
from the Martha Stewart Living
Christmas issue....
she gave it to moi!
Below is her little village of houses...before she added the one I gave her....
on the right is her pink house from Charlotte Lyons' class at Silver Bella 08
and also the pink one
just to the right of the red building.
Far left you can see one of my little snowman bottles!

Her Sid Dickens plaques!

She made a version of the trees Cari Kraft did for the Silver Bella 09 luncheon....

Here is THE BIRD from the Denise Sharp class at SB 09. And her Lineage of Love from the Pam Garrison class SB 09. This photo was taken last summer I think.... but I never showed you.... just one side of her art room.... So that's how I spent my New Year's Eve! And you got to see BFF Virginia's stuff! No, she doesn't have a blog.... but there is hope for an Etsy store soon! We must continue to encourage her!!!
