Thank a Teacher

OKAY...I have had a very busy week...
but I did get these made for my daughter.
She started teaching 3rd grade this week in a new school district.
She wanted some kind of thank you gift
to give the other teachers on the 3rd grade team....
So this is what I made for her.
I just ran the brown bags through the printer!
The bags have nuts, lifesavors and chocolate candy in them...
along with a thanks flashcard that I made.
Fun!

Stitching Warm-ups!

....just a peek! How I entertained myself this weekend!
I'm in a stitched sampler swap in the "pre" Silver Bella swaps.
I need to start working on mine.
I always tend to need to make
"warm-ups"!
I saw some tea-towels at Anthropologie a few weeks ago
that were sold in a set of three
for $40.
I got back in my car and drew them from memory.
The bottom one is based on one of those.
Did any of you see these?

The Flowers

I struggled to do anything creatively yesterday.
So I scanned a picture out of an old children's book for you!
This is from A Child's Garden of Verses by Robert Louis Stevenson from 1929.
It belonged to my mother-in-law
and although I don't care for the poems,
I do love the illustrations done by Eulalie.

Winning is Good!

I won this circus ATC
titled "She liked to dream big!"
from Katie over at

She arrived in great company...

and wrapped in a vintage hankie!
Katie has been an online friend for awhile now and...
we are going to get to meet
in
November
at Silver Bella!
I know.... I can't believe it either!
There will be lots of pictures taken!
Also...have to show you that today I made a label
for the water bottles I'm including
in the gift bags for the
hotel guests
at my
son's wedding
next month!
Maybe tomorrow I'll assemble the
cookie boxes and glue the
flowers on them!
Maybe!!

Trip to Grandma's House Party!

Do you remember the other "First Time Grandmother Parties" I've been involved in this year? There was Connie's Barbie Party and Olga's Gardening Party. Well, yesterday at Connie's house we had Melinda's Roadtrip Party. Melinda will become a grandmother for the first time this October. Melinda ALWAYS has a map to show us how to get to wherever we are going. Now you are thinking how wonderful that is, aren't you? Well, you just keep thinking that! So.... for the theme we have little girl shoes ...it's a girl.... and some other stuff... for travelling.
I altered a Key Map!
And the suitcase is one that I won in a Scavenger Hunt on Malissa's blog months ago.
It was great fun! We had sack lunches filled with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, chips, Rice Krispie Treats, a juice box and a favor! After some shopping.... Connie found cookie cutters for feet so Nancy could make these cookies. Aren't they adorable! Out of the six members of "Dirt Divas" ..... 3 have or will have grandchildren soon. So we are DONE for awhile!

Joy Jingle Banners and Passports!

I recently hosted a banner swap on
I called it Joy Jingle Banner Swap and the guidelines,
besides the size,
were they had to be
orange, pink and yellow
and have at least one bell on them!
They are amazing! Lynn, who did the pink pom-pom one below,
also has great pictures
on her blog.
If you played in this swap and have them on your blog,
please let me know!
Now this.... you may not realize that it's "show us your passport photo month" in the blog world...
Well, Julia has been haunting various CVS and Walgreens pharmacies on the west side
of Houston this summer to find someone to take a decent passport photo of her.
I'm sure if you live on that side of town you have noticed her. She also has gout.... really sad for one so young.... but it's under control now. This is ALL on her blog, so I'm not telling anything that's not public knowledge. Just trying to help you get an image and a desire to go see
her passport photo.
It seems that I agreed to show mine if she showed her's..... and also Peggy.
These women are part of our Houston Constituency to Silver Bella ... so there ya go. Nuff said.
..oh...and those are NOT black moles on my face -
apparently they are part of the passport making process...

Where Did I Go?

Well...the wedding invitations went in the mail yesterday!!! Above is a little glimpse of them.
And... I've been making these miniature candy bar wrappers to put on the candy for the gift bags for the hotel guests. I made them and then printed them at Kinko's on the color copier...they look pretty professional.
Now... look below!!!
My BFF Lori asked if she could do something to help me!
ha!!!
I told her I was making tissue flowers to hot glue on top of
glossy, black boxes for the favors at
Rehearsal Dinner!
Dinner will be at a Mexican restaurant.... this is Texas remember.
So the wild colors will be great there....
I haven't counted them yet, but I suspect that I do not have to make ANY!

Marie

The Marie Antoinette craze has managed to bypass me for over a year now.... but I'm in a swap or round robin with the QB5 right now that has brought her to my house!
These are some sneak peeks for Patty of a little that I did for her book between addressing wedding invitations for my son's upcoming nuptials.
Yes, that IS glitter.....

Do the Good Stuff!

The invitations for my son's wedding came in.
My future daughter-in-law brought them to me on Saturday.
Today I start addressing them.
So I may be a little quiet for a few days.
About the sewing with my daughter...
When I had the time to really look at the drapes I was summoned to alter ...
We got in the car and drove to J. C. Penney's!
Ordered new drapes and went to La Madeleine's for lunch.
We'll move the old drapes
to a different bedroom
with only one window
where they WILL work!
Have a good day and don't think
that you have to do it all!
