Summer 2016

Thought I'd put some pictures up from the last few months.
This buck was one of four that we came upon one afternoon when we took
the kids riding in the golf cart.  He posed for us while the others ran to the woods!

We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary at Brennan's in Houston with the kids.
Only the newest grandchild got to come along!!!

Below is just the Dirt Divas........... we've been together a long time....... this was for my birthday in May I think.

July 4th

 Ash at the zoo....

Below is a trip to the Dallas area to see my husband's brother's family.
That's their sister and her husband in our backseat.  It was HOT in Dallas in August.
We were on our way to dinner.

Below is a shot out the front of my car as I was driving to a spiritual retreat spot. I was on staff and had never been to this facility.  Looked ominous. It was great though!

I've taken a few classes this summer....
below is just a small peek...
you may recognize some Misty Mawn and Juliette Crane leanings.
Also did a few ICADs
and just some journal work...

Summer isn't over......
More to come......
I'm a bad blogger....

We Had a Pinterest Party!

If you've read my blog for a long time,
you know I have a group of friends called The Dirt Divas.
We've done a lot of things over the last 15 years or so...
from ski trips with the high school youth from our church,
to beach trips with them and amusement parks,
mission camps, etc....

And now that we no longer work with the youth...
we still get together and do fun things.

Well, this week one of us celebrated an upcoming 60th birthday.
For 60th birthdays we do something special...

This particular Diva loves Pinterest....
so we gave her a Pinterest Party.

We did two crafts she had pinned and several food and drink recipes!

Those chocolate stuffed strawberries turned out great!
How smart to melt the chocolate and pour it in the berries!
You should do this!
(rest the berries in a mini muffin tin or a
CLEAN plastic egg carton to fill)

Above is a Pink Lemonade Margarita!!!!

Artichoke Spinach Dip!
(I printed out the pin pics!)

An avocado, tomato, cucumber salad!!!

We also had this delicious berry dessert that I forgot to take a photo of.
The finished dessert is covered in cool whip,
not sure why the Pinterest pic doesn't show that.

This particular Diva has Queen issues.... which we try to squelch...
but we were being nice!
(She was Mardi Gras Queen one year and won't let us forget it.)
Crafts are not something they do....
These are my good friends that "don't get the paper art stuff" I do.
I know you have friends like that, too....
But they loved making Fascinators!
I made Fascinators for them two Christmases ago and now they
know how to do their own.
(No, there are no pics of me....... I'm suffering with a horrid
sinus infection.... I had gone to the doctor earlier that day...)

This was not at my house....... it was at the one on the bottom left above's house
(Melinda)
You can click on the picture to see better.

And the birthday girl (Connie) had also pinned this paper snowflake ornament.
In the pin they had made a snowflake out of white felt,
but I just used plastic ones from Hobby Lobby!

We thought they looked great hanging from Melinda's chandelier in
her breakfast room!
I think they MIGHT actually make these again on their own!!!

If you are interested in any of these pins, visit my Pinterest Boards!
If you can't find something, leave me a comment and I'll send it to you!

Barbie Becomes a Grandmother!

One of my Dirt Diva Friends (we all used to work with high school youth at our church ...therefore we have gone through A LOT together and gone a lot of places....long story short...) anyway.... Connie became a grandmother for the first time.... thus a party.... Barbie had to be aged ... note the highlight foil in her hair and she has roots...they don't show up well. Of course, Barbie ages really well....she has some extra lumpiness under her towel now though!!!!!
Book for the Grandmother on things we think a grandmother should do.
I did the doll. Melinda altered the tub area with handrails (potty is mounted above in the box with a handrail) and the towel rack became a walker! Click on this one to see it larger for sure!
Connie and Lori checking out the walker. Garland hanging has the baby name on one side and photos she has emailed us constantly on the other side.
The cupcakes were made by Olga and have picks in them that Lori assembled for me with the sonogram picture!
Nancy couldn't be with us as her husband was still in the hospital recovering from kidney cancer surgery. He's coming home today! PTL! He's doing great!
