Life Continues

Some of my special friends came over and wrote scriptures and prayers on studs in my home.
 It is a wonderful blessing.
Those words will always be there blessing us.

Now the drywall is up.
They’ve been taped and floated and texture is on.
The interior doors are being hung. Trim is going up.
When paint goes on the walls, I will be sooo happy!
 It’s a process. A process I didn’t plan on at all.
No one told us how hard this would be.

People out of town always ask if we are back in our house, if life is back to normal.
We are all so used to rapid recoveries. But, no, this is a difficult recovery.
We had flood insurance. So many didn’t. We were not supposed to flood.
I have friends that don’t have walls up yet.
 Keep praying.

Yes, the fireplace had to be torn down. Our firebox had to come out the front.
Most in my neighborhood did. So I get to design a new one.
Hoping I will love it! None of this is fun.
It’s because of how we got here
Just wanted to update my regulars that don’t see me on fb.
Happy Thanksgiving to those of you in the USA!
We will be at my daughter’s.
We are so thankful.
 This could’ve been much worse.

Harvey Saga Continued

I know I need to update my friends that only know me through my blog.
We are surviving.
The wonderful heavy trash trucks came from San Antonio to pick up our debris.
It took weeks.
Our yard looks much better..... but not back to normal yet!

The picture below is from a couple of weeks ago as well.
We are done with the dehumidifiers.
Our house is dry and our mold report came back all clear!
We are cleared for drywall!

So I've been painting swatches of paint on the remaining walls.
I'll take a picture of that today.
I already have 12 colors up there....
Getting a few more samples today.
(we are staying in an apartment)

The roses in the back seem to be surviving as well!

I hope you are doing well.
Praying for our friends in Florida, Puerto Rico and California as well as South Texas!

Hurricane Harvey

The photo above was taken from a neighbor's house before they evacuated.
They were upstairs looking out a window.

Below was taken by another neighbor as they went by in a boat.
We had left the night before in our truck.

Being who you are..... I thought I'd show you a few art room losses...

I'll try and share more later....... just wanted to drop by and say I am here and we are doing fine.
It's just going to be a long process to rebuild.  But don't worry about us.  We will be back and I'll be back in my art room with A LOT less stuff..... which is probably a good thing.

The pins above were made in a QB5 art pin swap many years ago.
They fell into the flood water and even tho they don't look too bad in this picture..... they were unsalvageable.

But I cherish the memories!
That's what's important!

It's Index Card a Day time again.

I'm doing the Index Card a Day thing again this year.
If you don't know what that is check it out at Daisy Yellow.
It's not too let to join in.
It began June 1 and goes 61 days.

I'm sharing daily (or trying) on Instagram #dyicad2017.  I'm @lindajopaperart.
For your pictures on Instagram you need to leave background showing as
Instagram will crop it to a square.

Happy Stitched Valentine's Day

I bet you think the St means Saint..... but it means Stitched! Happy Stitched Valentine's Day!

I've been making some stuffed hearts.
Filled with fiberfill and lavender.

I like making them using old linens.
What do you call those..... table scarves?
They're embroidered.
I have quite a few of my mother's.
They have rust spots and cigarette burns.
I think this is a great way
to use them up.

Did you make any valentines?
