A New Book

I don't know where I got this image. If you know, please tell me and I will give credit.

January is like a new book, isn't it!?
I've just disappeared and I think it's because (okay, I KNOW) I'm trying to
figure out what I'm doing art wise these days and if I really want to keep blogging.
I'm not blogging enough really to even consider it as something I do!

I always read in January.

I started How to Breathe Underwater by Julie Orringer
(I look at college freshmen reading lists)

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
(I try to read the classics occasionally)

 and
A Tide Too High by my QB5 friend Carole Brungar.

Those are JUST the fiction books I'm reading.

I'm also trying to decide what I want to do this year "art-wise".

I did an incredible class by Misty Mawn last year (Full Circle) that was my most favorite ever!

And I did some Mary Ann Moss classes and some Christy Tomlinson/Junelle Jacobson.

I've been obsessed with Mindy Lacefield's art for months now!!!

And I think I'm going to sign up for her new class...
it's a year long....
  Permission to Play.

It starts the first of February and it will be up online forever....
so you can take the rest of your life to do it! (me)

Are you taking any classes or reading any books?

No classes, but I've been sewing up a storm since the first of the year - clothes for myself.
I have a stack of books to read - All the Light we Cannot See, The Rosie Effect, Housekeeping, and more.
I'm enjoying the grandbabies (I'll have to stop calling them all that, soon, as the eldest is, gulp, 4) and that takes time, too.

Both! I brought home "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" from the lake -- I'd never read it and figured it was time (though I've yet to start!). Right now I've been focusing on books about Paris and am reading a more "scholarly" one about movie musicals! And waiting for Rick to finish the one I gave him about Tour de France. Oh, and Sarah Caudwell myseteries! Yes, a GRAND month for reading!

And I'm taking two art workshops this weekend. The first is making a book with molding paste/papers and lots of paint and glue! The second is creating an art journal and journal techniques. Jacqueline Sullivan is a fabulous teacher so I'm inspired!

Yes, January is flying and that is just fine by me! Happy New Year!

What reverence there is in that how to open a new book paragraph ♥!
You know I cringe every time I hear you say you may stop blogging...
I WOULD MISS YOU HERE LINDA!
I confess I have also thought about just how much time and energy it takes to keep a blog going and to visit all of the other bloggers.
Just one of the things that seems to be challenging me so far this new year.
I signed up for Misty's ART ENTWINED which also begins in Feb...she is such a generous and talented artist. I was over the moon when she offered another online class as I thought last year might be her last online workshop.
I also signed up for A YEAR OF PAINTING with Alena Hennessey with lots of color and outside my box kind of art.
Now I just need to get to class!
You know Linda I thought you didn't read fiction LOL...funny sometimes how we get something in our mind and there it sticks/stays.
Hope you will want to continue sharing here on your blog.
That's how I think of it...
sharing what delights us and drives us and more.

I am with Patty... I cringe to hear you say you might stop blogging... I know you have to follow your heart, but please stop by the sweet life once in a while if you decide to close up your blog! xo
