More about change....

 We talked here about change....

I've been thinking about it lately for many reasons...

One is that we are building a new house and moving in less than two months....
leaving the house we've lived in for almost 27 years.

Another reason it's on my mind is because it was 40 years ago THIS MONTH that I moved to Houston.
A young, single woman in the big wicked city!

That first photo above is of the Sam Houston Coliseum which was located in downtown Houston and right across the street from where I worked.

I can't begin to tell you all the entertainment events I attended there in the 70's....
from ice hocky to music groups of the 70's!

The Coliseum was torn down in 1998.

You know what the above shot is........ the Houston Astrodome...

First covered stadium in the world.
It was replaced by Reliant Stadium in 2002.
In 2003 it held it's last concert. (George Strait)

I saw Elvis there in the 70's.....

.... and above is The Summit....
I saw many concerts and hockey and basketball games there....

It was replaced by Toyota Center....

In 2003 Lakewood Church leased it....
and then 7 years later purchased it and so now it's a church.

and
I saw Elvis there in the 70's.....

Change is good.

And new baseboards and toilets are very, very good! You are going to love your new house and the process of making it your new "home." I look forward to lots of pictures.

One day we must all get together for lunch. xoxo, Julia

Such an exciting change- to be moving into your new house Linda! You may be sad at first, but then you will be so grateful and much more content :)

Really enjoyed this post, Linda! It was like revisiting a lot of old memories from the years we lived in Houston. But I never got to see Elvis...

I imagine your emotions are all over the board with respect to moving into the new house and saying good bye to the old one. At least it's close enough to drive by it and wave from time to time!
