Ruby Floy

Do you have any friends like this.....
they find the best stuff out there....
somewhere... and then
they put it in their Etsy shops!
Nathalie amazes me with how much she finds!
Thought I'd just mention her in case you haven't been to her shop Ruby Floy.
My journaling and bookmaking friends might be interested in this old children's book!
Happy Memorial Day!

You know how the week gets away from you
and
you are like what I can I update my blog with?

...so here ya go!

I love making these little envelope books!

I Shopped!

Well...I ate first!
The birthday celebration continued into the weekend with the family.
Saturday night we met the kids for dinner!
We have to eat the local fare while it's still available.... let's don't get into THAT!
Anyway...it was delicious and we had a great time together as we always do!
Then I told DH (dear husband) that I had someplace
I had to go before the end of the month.
He could take me on Sunday or over Memorial Day Weekend!
He chose Sunday!
(Remember I'm still recovering from complicated foot surgery)
So after church on Sunday we headed to Highland Village! The game had already started... traffic is great on Sundays! You see if you have an Anthro card ... indicating you are a valued customer... you get a special gift during your birthday month! Each year it's different... last year was a darling little muslin pocket with buttons... This year.... a necklace! I had to use it! I'm always nervous about taking photos in there... so this is a little blurry.... but look at the name - don't see it spelled that way too often! Of course...the only Nathalie I know is here.... but you should check this one out, too! My camera battery died after I took that picture! But not to be denied, I whipped out my phone! Aren't these adorable! They were each well over $200. Of course they were! So....that was my first shopping experience since April 15th! I thought it was a good choice!

Birds of a Feather

Natalea sent me this sweet piece on a chain!
I met Natalea at Silver Bella in 2007!
I had been reading her blog and didn't realize it tho!
I had fallen in love with some curtains her mom had made for her
and left a comment searching
for the fabric!
Life is funny!
Below you can see her necklace displayed
on her sweet packaging
and beneath them
are the gorgeous tea towels
that Emily in South Carolina
sent me.
Emily and I are in Christian Paper Artists Yahoo Group together.
She doesn't have a blog...
but should,
of course!

People seem to know what I like!

Although my sister said when handing me my gift this week,

"You are so hard to shop for!"

Match This!

Don't you love these little matchboxes that people are swapping!
Patty does a great matchbox!
And...she sent this one to me!
She is so giving... and makes such wonderful things.
It was wrapped so sweetly.
You know how we are ...
all of us that read these blogs ...
the entire package is joyous.
We covet the paper and ribbons as much as the gift they hold.
Below is an overhead shot of all the goodies Patty sent me for my birthday.
Please understand that Patty and I have a long standing friendship.
She is not a blog stalker. rofl
Not that I know what a blog stalker is or anything.

Am I Indulgent?

I won this over on Anna's blog a few weeks ago!
She made some reuseable bags for Earth Day and I happened to be in the right place at the right time!
Carole at Madness and Mess sent me a sack of goodies!
Two great magazines and fabric and a pattern.
Have you see that Alice in Wonderland fabric anywhere
or it just available in New Zealand?
So last week this HUGE box arrives at my house!
I couldn't open it at first..... just let it SIT there.

Finally did!

It's a VINTAGE suitcase!

She loaded it with lovelies.......hankies and a little western boot "wall pocket" ... in that vintage color I love...

In keeping with the feet theme I have going on in my life lately, I thought the western boot was
appropriate!

Birthday Week

Anna made the little stitched piece above!
Isn't it the cutest cupcake!!!!???
And below is a card she altered for me....
a vintage card with a darling button!
I love it!

And below is Nathalie's altered vintage card....

Aren't these girls amazing!

Have you ever altered a vintage card and re-used it?

I haven't.... but I will!

There's lots more to show you..... but I gotta spread it out....

My loot!

I've gotten some wonderful things in the mail these last few weeks from my online friends!
Above is an adorable cat ATC from Jeanie!
She hopes I will soon be as frisky as a kitten..
I hope so.....that would be a miracle as I
wasn't that frisky BEFORE surgery!
And she sent a lovely card and bookmark ... I've been reading A LOT!
My QB5 friend, Patty, was making these wonderful spoon garden markers -
with her delightful husband -
and I immediately "ordered" a couple from her!
BFF Virginia got one for her birthday from me.
(since my original gift to her she had already bought for herself...
I felt I was ahead of her on at least this one)
Anyway......... Patty's husband hurt his finger last weekend on
another activity and is out of commission right now for pounding spoons....
but he shall return!

I've been inserting cards in my Remains of the Day journal..... so I didn't take pictures of

all of them......... but Anna if you could look at my journal next time you are here.....

...and speaking of journals...

You should go see what Carole is offering!

An online journal class and you get to hear her delightful accent!

Next week is my "birthday week" and gifts have been pouring in for a week now...

....just kidding....

...kind of....

so I'll show you those goodies next week!

May Embroidery!

Virginia came over yesterday to visit the post-op one!
We exchanged our stitched pieces for May for our embroidered fragments swap...
Above is the one I gave her. You might recognize it from a pattern of little girls walking along.
I just took two of the girls out and did them and added the word "friend".
Below is what Virginia did for me...
And below is what I've made for a QB5 embroidery swap that is moving along quite slowly! ha! I embroidered in the corner of an old linen napkin
and will mail it to Margaret for her to add something
to it.

Steps

Stepping away from fabric and paper for a moment... Indulge me.... I'm heavily into the wedding showers and graduation party circuit these days... And since my foot surgery it's just as well........ just roll me in and put me somewhere... The rose above was at the shower at my soon to be married daughter's school shower last week... Below is my daughter and my sister at said shower...
Here we have moved on (rolled on) to my nephew's high school graduation party...
this is my daughter and my daughter-in-law ....
This was an awesome cake done by Food Services of Katy Independent School District for the shower....
This is the about to graduate nephew.... This is his awesome cake made by a friend of my sister's....
And...these are my feet as they were a few years ago....
I'm not going to show you them now...
even some of my relatives refuse to see that!
Here are my feet when I was 10...

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

If you live in Texas...you know what today is.......
Cinco de Mayo commemorates the victory of the Mexican army over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5th, 1862. It is mostly a day for us to drink margaritas... because we need an excuse to have them in the middle of the week?

Zeta Quilt

So finallllllllly ....
I can reveal one thing I've made in the last couple of months!
My daughter
has been asking me to make a quilt from her college sorority t-shirts
for quite a few years.
I did it!
Saturday some friends of mine gave her a bridal shower.
It was my gift to my daughter.
When she saw what it was,
she said "It took me getting married, to get this!"
I made the top and paid to have it machine quilted.
My sister sewed the binding strips to it
and
then last week I slipstitched
the binding to the back!
It was a huge surprise!
Below are some blurry photos....
but thought you'd enjoy anyway.
I was sitting across the room as the host home
has lots of steps and remember I'm sidelined
with my foot so it's easiest to just plant me somewhere
right now.
Below is a blurry shot that I thought my followers might enjoy...
BFFV wrapped her gift in recycled paper and made an ice cream cone
for the front of the package that contained an ice cream maker...
Next is a photo of me in the wheelchair, with daughter behind me and the shower hostesses.
Now what can I make?
