International Quilt Festival 2009

This week is the 35th Anniversary of the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas. This week is the 23rd Anniversary of BFF Virginia and I attending it EVERY year.
(to the best of our knowledge..... )
These pictures are from 2008. I keep meaning to do this with my buttons....

This was the Make It University area one year... Cloth Paper Scissors... Virginia and I got to play in there last year.

Go here starting on Nov. 15
and there are ruby slippers for you to click
and "be there" through the wonders of technology.
Virginia and I are going on the 15th
and I plan to wear a yellow and blue plaid type shirt...
although they are saying it will be 90 outside Thursday....
so this could change.
Anyway... you know what I look like.
I will be in the vendor area from 10 a.m. til about 5:30 p.m.
then head to the Quilts
before it closes
at 7 p.m.
When we first started going.... we stood in line
wrapped around the George R. Brown
Convention Center in Downtown Houston...
now we print our tickets off on the
computer and they
scan the bar code.
Technology is good!
This is what it says on their Facebook page...
At the 35th annual edition of Festival, you can expect to shop at more than 1,100 booths, pick from more ethan 400 classes, lectures, and special events, enjoy free teacher demos, and learn from educational exhibits. But best of all... You'll see more ethan 2,000 great quilts, dolls, and pieces of fabric art in exhibits like "The Festival Gallery of Quilt Art: Fabric Forest," "The Silver Star Review," "SAQA@20: Art and Excellence," and "Quilts: A World of Beauty," the annual fall Judged Show of the International Quilt Association. Plus, the 2009 editions of "In Full Bloom: Floral Quilts," "In the American Tradition," "Tactile Architecture" "Celebrate Spring!" and "West Coast Wonders." International Quilt Festival also features over 365 hands-on classes, 27 lectures, numerous special events, and a renowned faculty of 119 experienced teachers. Select from a variety of beginning to advanced classes on every aspect of quilting plus other subjects. The 2009 International Quilt Festival/Houston will take place October 15-18, with classes and events beginning on October 12. Show hours are 10 a.m.-7 p.m. October 15-17, and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. October 18. Preview Night will be held on October 14, from 7-10 p.m. (Preview Night ticket is $10 and includes one additional day free).

I've always wanted to go to this -- even though quilting isn't my skill. But it just looks fabulous -- and it would be so much fun to do your project! You and Virginia are going to have a blast! (Isn't it fun to have a creative comrade?)
