Stuck?

Old scrapbooks....and glue...and things you want to remove. What do you recommend? The top photo shows the back of the dove below when I removed it from the page. I googled it last night and one thing I'm going to try shortly is using my heat gun on the back of an image to see if it softens the glue and I can peel it off. Last night I put one thing in the freezer and some of the paper did come off a bit. I also read to use dental floss to slide under images... I am going to do that, too... for the things still on pages. When I was at Silver Bella in Nebraska last November, the first night we went to Second Chance Antiques - fantastic shop - you should go there! I found an old scrapbook downstairs unmarked. I took it upstairs and asked how much and they said, "Oh, $10." Well, I think it's yummy! Someone just glued a bunch of things they liked in it.... some old pictures out of magazines, etc. But what is so great are all the little cards in there. The postcards I really want to clean the backs off so I can read them. Last night I decided to start working on this. I laid out some of the things I just cut out of the pages. This page with the ladies in the car has good stuff on the reverse, too... so I'll have to make some choices if I can't safely remove them. If you have any experience with this stuff you can share with me, please do!

WHAT A FIND!!!!!!! Oh MY GOSH! $10????? You STOLE that scrapbook, Linda! Heat gun sounds good. You might also try a damp cloth on the back side (if there aren't images on the reverse of the page). These are glued in well, if they are still sticking after all of these years. I would have a hard time using some of the originals myself. :)

Linda, well darn it! How did I miss that scrapbook? I searched that basement from corner to corner! GREAT find! Yes you might try a heat gun, gently. Then sometimes dental floss does work. There is also a product called Undu that is safe for photos that you might try.

I usually swear by Undu. It is supposed to evaporate completely and not leave any water spots behind but sometimes on old papers I've noticed it leaving a slight spot. You might try it first on some pieces that aren't your absolute favorites to see what happens. You got that book for a song! :)
