Zines Again!

Remember months ago I told you here and here about some zines that the QB5 group is working on?

(We hope to be finished with these before Christmas
as we have another swap that I think is due around then!!!)

I finally came up with what I wanted to do in Patty's zine!
Her zine is entitled Medieval Thymes....

I was SO inspired and SO excited!

I did my pages on medieval embroidery!
I made a little booklet
with info about medieval
embroidery!
You can't believe how much there is online on that subject!

And I drew off a little pattern (top photo)...
and embroidered a medieval flower...
using some gold thread like in medieval times...
I wanted to stitch as if I were poor.... but
all the samples of such did not last due to the
quality of materials and so only the pieces
done for the wealthy with superior fabrics and thread survived.

I love embroidery...
and what a history it has!

Gifts

Becky Shander sent me this!

It's a little "house warming" gift!
She is such a thoughtful artist...
if you haven't visited her blog, you really should.
Just click on her name above.
She's featured by Stampington a lot...
so you will recognize her work.

She's one of the really "nice women" out there!

And this piece is precious...
do you notice the little nails in the corners?
(probably upholstery nails)

I need to send someone a gift today....
isn't that what it's all about?

Prayer Flags

I joined the Prayer Flag swap on
ChristianPaper Artists Yahoo Group...
had to make 9 flags.....
didn't think I could get that done...

I started out stitching.
The bird above is a piece I made years ago and never did anything with.
So I cut it and made it a prayer flag.

Well.... that opened up a whole new world of joy!
And I finished my flags using fabric I had "gel printed"!

Thank you, Patty.... you inspired a bunch of us!

(I did my gel printing on fabric that had a light script on it.)

And for my "grace" I either stitched it or used muslin I ran through my printer.

You should really try this...
it's so fun!

Here is another flag that is simple...

I do like making these....
I'm in another swap making them for the end of the year as well.
They can be any size really....
I made mine by putting the top piece
(that had an unattractive back due to paint or stitching)
onto a base muslin piece!

Rug of Choice

Here is the chosen one....

It has so many wonderful colors in it!

Our sofa is an oxblood color.... and the recliner in the corner is a burgundy as well...

Soooooo...now to find art for above the mantle
and
above the desk...

All of our previously owned pictures are not large enough for the mantle...
the high ceilings are demanding.

And I need to take those speaker covers outside and spray paint them
to match the walls.

They are magnetic covers that just pop off!

(they are on the tv wall as well)

(the tv cable boxes will get put inside the media console soon...
waiting on total connectivity with our local cable...
I tell ya we moved to the prairie you would think...)

Rugs in my life!

So I did get the prayer flags finished.... and I will show them to you soon....

But one of the things that has been keeping me from making stuff....
is still unpacking (slowly) and shopping for the new house!

This week we got two new rugs...
above you can see two rugs.... folded up...
I wasn't thinking about my blog at the time (!) and didn't take enough pictures.

Which one do you think I picked for the living room?

The one on the right doesn't show as well for you.... but the center is beige....with those designs continued.

Below is the front door rug............
I didn't take any pictures of my other rug choices....
this one won hands down!
The picture below is dark,
but wanted you to see the star in the glass...
this IS Texas...

So which rug do you think I picked for the living room between those two you can see?

I'll tell you tomorrow.
