Silk Sacheting

In April I saw a tutorial
for the cutest felt dresses
made into lavender sachets!
I thought....
"I'll make them out of white duponi silk for the bridesmaids!"
And...so... I did!
They will go in their gift bags!
July is Wedding Month!

String and beads...

So Saturday, when I should have been working on some stitchery,
I did this instead.
It's been "weighing on me" as BFF Virginia would say!
I have lots of ideas of what I want to do with this idea...
but I must wait!
But thought I'd show it to you anyway....
It's, of course, from Rebecca Sower!
She showed us how here and now that I go back and look at that...
I have some practicing to do!
Have you made these yet?

Book Love!

This small book contains so much for me.
Not only does it have a vintage library card for it's covers,
it's small, it has stitching on the side to bind it, it has stamps and a postmark,
and it's a BOOK!
My friend, Cindy Leaders, sent it to me.
I actually ordered it from her Etsy shop, as soon as I saw it!
But she refunded my money and sent it to me!
She really should not have done that,
but she wanted to thank me for something...so anyway...
the important thing is that I POSSESS one of these great little books.
You can still get one.... I just checked and she has a few!
I've always loved little books.
I have had a love affair with libraries since I was a child.
That's a great post yet to be written! ha!
Anyway....
I love library checkout cards.
I use them in my art.... the only time I've sent art to
Somerset Studio it was something I made using one of these cards!
And...yes.... they published it!
So I gather the vintage library cards up....
trying not to hoard. (you watch that on tv right?)
Those of us with this Library Card Addiction
seek relief from Nathalie's etsy shop where
these cards can be purchased!
It's good to have a supplier...
Do you have any addictions that we can talk about here?
(If you have a blog...you know how hard it is to come up with a post title.
I keep changing this one.... the wrong title can bring in a lot of unwanted spam in your comments!
Some of my early titles were excellent!)

Chiffon Flowers .... still....

No, those are not my feet!
I wish!
Daughter came out this weekend and we made navy chiffon flowers and sewed them on white flip-flops for the bridesmaids. My daughter loved fire (candles) as a child and this hasn't changed one bit. I knew she'd love this craft!
Remember I showed you how to do these here! Just sewed them on cheap ones for the girls. The bride has them on her "better" flip-flops for the wedding now, too!
You should make some and show me!
More wedding stuff to come!

Packages tied up with string, these are a few of.....

I got a GREAT package this week! I won a blog drawing from Julia, my Silver Bella buddy, that lives across town from me. She makes these wonderful photo blocks and I won one! Peggy, another Silver Bella buddy in Houston, won the other one!
Julia clipped a photo she had of me on here.
It's me with Frank from Trading Spaces!
He was on the flight with us from Houston to Omaha
(we were going to Silver Bella and he wished he was going to Silver Bella).
Anyway..... visit Julia's blog...
she has great stuff there all the time!
My daughter wanted to make photo blocks for her bridesmaids already,
and then when she saw this one this weekend....
well, I've already gone and gotten the wood and had it cut!
I'll show you how they turn out!
Thanks a heap, Julia!
...and below is a picture I just thought you should see...
It's pretty obvious the neighborhood cats have figured out
that we no longer have a dog at this house.
Not that they were all that afraid of Charley,
but I'm sure they feel we need animal protection of some kind.
Happy Father's Day!

You know what I like!

Margaret sent me a wonderful package from Switzerland for my birthday!
She was in New Zealand when my birthday "happened"... so my package just arrived...
but you know how great it is to continue to celebrate for weeks afterwards!
I love those sweeeeeet monograms above.
And they are in the most wonderful little envie!
You know I'll be tracing that off and making my own!

She assured me she did not embellish the ribbon with feathers.... came that way!

Margaret knows what I like!
Just as everyone that reads my blog knows what I like...
Doncha love that?
We could shop for each other endlessly!
Send me stuff!

Movin on down the aisle

“When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody,
you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.”
"When Harry Met Sally"
(Movie)
The above shot was taken last fall....... when we "booked" the wedding!
I bought my Mother of the Bride dress yesterday.
Below is a sneak peek, not found anywhere else!
Note the fabric flower.
No, I didn't make it.
I could have, tho!
more soon........

Glimpses

BFF Virginia's June stitched piece for me.... see my initials!
I've been making little wedding dress lavender sachets...

I've been looking for my Mother of the Bride dress!

A little tight...all that comfort food post-surgery...

Not as old looking as you might think from the picture:

Too young looking?

Too autumnal for a July wedding?

....... the search continues.......

Peeking In?

Okay..these are just some peeks......
I know I haven't been appearing to be too productive art wise lately....
Above is a PEEK at some stitching that can't be revealed yet...
The next fifty days are taken up with getting this girl marrrrrried!
---->
So here is a peek at her dress fitting!!!

There ya go!
I saw these --->
hanging in the "pressing room".
They neeeeded their picture made!
And then DH and I were at
the park one recent Sunday
when our church
had
Jazz Sunday
there.
BFF Virginia was there, too! It's hard to just do a peek on this one... Grandpuppy is getting bigger! Back soon with bigger peeks!!!

Catching up in inches, I mean inchies...

I recently hosted a Father's Day Inchie Swap
they just had to be about men...
Above are some that I made!
Melissa made the following inchies...which I love!

She also sent me this tag as a hostess gift. It's two-sided!

It's wonderful.... I lifted the pictures off her blog.

Go visit her!

I have wonderful blog intentions...
Trying to catch up.... between "the wedding", "my foot" and... oh wait...that's enough reasons.
More tomorrow...

New Friends

Cory at Pink Dogwood Blossoms sent me this button string!
Visit the link above to read about it.
You meet the nicest people through their blogs!
So I went outside to take the above photograph this morning...
and thought I'd take a few other shots as long as the light was so good.

Above is a small table by my backdoor.

We had a rain storm last night... I think....

it's wet outside and it was a huge line on the radar when we went to bed...

Neither my DH nor I heard a thing...

Below is a plaque that hangs above the table.

It was made by the Brookwood Community and I've had it for many years.

The reason I mention the storm.... and not knowing how bad it was.... no limbs down tho...

but this little friend was sitting right at the back door this morning when DH went to the gym before work. He had to nudge him with his foot and he was SOAKING WET and ran under a plant table.

When DH left for work, "little friend" was sitting outside the fence in the driveway.

Well, when taking pictures, I "just happened" to notice him....

I'll let ya know.... but I'm thinking he's no longer "with us"!!!
And for my Kiwi friends, it's a squirrel....
(they don't thave those there)
What do you think??????

Open Your Door!

My QB5* friend, Carole, has an online, video class starting June 14!
You should REALLY consider taking it.
If you just click on the picture it will take you where you need to go!
I'll be there.... we can sit together... it'll be lots of fun!
I've seen the intro..... you know she's in New Zealand.... and she has the cutest little accent!
It's worth taking the class just to see Carole!
But...seriously.....
it's a journal class....
and it's summer (at least in my part of the world)....
take a class!
*QB5 is short for Queen Bees...and there are five of us... just a fun little swap group we made up for ourselves. Are you in a little swap group with one or two others? If not, you should start one!
