I'm in my second charm swap this year. Last time I did birdsnest charms made with copper wire. So I can't do that again. So here I am trying to solder. I love soldered charms and I have now decided that buying them is more fun for me than making them. I have to mail charms off by tomorrow. So...I WILL make these charms using solder. If anyone has any tips for me, please share! I'm just adding collage to the back of glass pebbles. I think maybe the small glass microscope lens might be easier. It's that big old back piece that is giving me fits on these.
Today is Miss Foof-a-la's birthday (Teresa McFayden). You can read more about it on Kimberly Kwan's blog. This was my first time to make a party hat! I think I'm addicted now. This was a lot of fun. Be sure and check it all out. We can be found on Flickr PartyHat Group and at Two Peas.. What Fun!
I've been in Tyler, Texas the last few days with my father-in-law. He's such a sweetheart. He had a pacemaker put in last week and Saturday I took my turn to come stay with him a few days. It's nice to have time to read and cook and just sit awhile. I wonder what I'll be doing when I'm 88? I hope I will remember how he was and apply it to my life.
The sun is shining in southeast Texas! Believe It ... or Not! It really is. Now if I can just see my landscapers show up. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I did make a few things. Here is something I sent off as a RAK.
You know summer is just about over now. Once you hit this date...it's just gone. Better soak up each moment right now! We went to our local fireworks display last night. Fortunately it stopped raining for a few hours here in Texas and we "got 'er done". Today I'm making art...as soon as I get off of here. I began the summer..in May...with a trip to First Monday Trade Days in Canton with some of my close friends. We call ourselves "The Dirt Divas" because we like to get things "dirt cheap" and we are Divas. Here are some goodies I bought.
Okay...so I haven't made any progress on those 4 swaps I'm in. I did sign up for a 5th one though!!! Here are my "inchies" that I mailed off a few weeks ago for a swap. I should be getting 25 inchies back from various people. These were fun to make and I should do more of them...I'm sure they will come in handy. They'd make a nice bookcover. I didn't send all of these off...kept the dog ones.
