A Weekend for the Birds

Yes.... I have a "thing" for birds....
spotted this dove on the wire across the field on Saturday in College Station...
It didn't matter if the teams were under her or not.... she stayed.
It didn't matter when they kicked an extra point..... or when her friend joined her...
She stayed almost all of the first half!

Then....
on Sunday morning I went to get dressed for church...

a Mockingbird became a peeping tom...

There are 3 side windows along the top of our shower.....
there is no door... and she could watch me put on make up and dress...
I found her so cute and funny...
I talked to her and took a ton of pictures...
Even put her on my Instagram....
Sometimes she sat in one of the other windows....
She didn't care how close I got.... all these shots are with my iphone...
Well.... when we got home from church.... she was still there...

I had gone outside and put some bread out...

Filled up the bird bath....

But now it's become "less cute"....

She's pecking loudly on the windows!!!!

I'm putting animal figurines in the windows...

Above is a shot of her reaction to the piggy bank....

Below is her flapping her wings.
I think she's going to die from the stress of wanting in...

I finally put mirrors in the windows and she left....

I kind of hope tomorrow is bird free....

(all pictures taken with iphone...even the ones at the football game...
they would've been better with my good camera... oh well)

  1. How funny! It could be the title of a book "The Bird who wouldn't Leave."

  3. We had a cardinal that flew repeatedly into our new glass door this summer, as in every few seconds for an hour or more at a time. It was crazy. Sometimes she would sit and I would enjoy her but it got annoying when she kept hitting it. I hung up something that was on hand in the laundry room and it finally deterred her.

  4. Hmmm, are mocking birds known for doing that?

  5. Want to borrow my new cat? She's pretty intense -- scares me! You're right -- sometimes cute can wear very thin!

  7. Funny story, Linda. We are two birds of a feather. I have a thing for birds too, but I can see that was going too far. Sure makes ya wonder what was going on in his/her little mind.
