A week of childhood nostalgia
I am a child of the fifties! I am so glad.... I don't think there has ever been a better decade to be a child of. Please share about your childhood this week. I've seen some of this on some other blogs the last few days and I will try very hard this week to remember where and tell you about them soon. ha! So I'm starting the week with a little video from my beloved Mickey Mouse Club. I watched it every afternoon from about 2nd grade til...not sure when. Annette was my first "idol". And I loved "Spin and Marty"... one of the features of the show. I loved Cheryl, too. Darlene was another favorite. I think most of my readers are too young to know about this particular show...but share with me what you watched in elementary school! I bet you can find a video on you tube that you can upload on your blog. If you need help, just ask me! Now it's time to say goodbye...to all my company..... See you real soon! linda

An Ant Wedding?
The rose bushes are going wild!
I had decided the ants had built their mounds large enough... there were two pretty close together on my patio. So I drug out the ant poison. If you live in South Texas you keep Fire Ant Poison. It's a staple.
After I poured the poison and watered it in... I was noticing the ants were carrying something red. I have a macro setting, btw...they are big...but not THAT big!
They are gathering rose petals!!!!

The Shape I Love!
My favorite shape is the shape of a house!!! So the last few days I've been working with that shape - and it does take over my life. Above you see some little house journals that I'm sending to some friends as RAKs. I need to make some more to send before the end of the month. This house is based on one I saw on my friend Tammy Gilley's blog. I love her stuff and she knows I love her stuff. We met at Silver Bella last November. She was my inspiration for those pennants I did last year ... in case you've forgotten.
This picture above is the beginning of some House ATCs for a swap on the Christian Paper Artists Yahoo Group. I must get back to working on them very soon.
Last weekend was my husband's birthday and we drove into Houston on Friday night and met the kids at Pappadeaux's. I don't know what had just been said... but my kids are looking at each other funny. That's my son's girlfriend in the middle. We made a mistake and took the seat by the bar. We wanted the booth as the girls were cold. It was SO LOUD there - a bunch of guys were on the other side of that glass partition watching the Rockets play and having a very good time.
Don't those kids look young? I thought "people are going to think the girlfriend is 15!!!" I assure you all 3 of them are well out of college (Texas A&M) and have good jobs! Praise the Lord! Have a good day!

Dog Inchies
These are my inchies for the Dog Inchie Swap on Christian Paper Artists List. I think they are finished. We'll see. I did more than I need... this way I can keep some of them for myself. Now I have to make bug or butterfly inchies!

Beads and Birds
Friday I went to the Jewelry Show in Houston...I think the real name is International Gem and Jewelry Show. Anyway, I've been before....my friend Connie likes to go and so I - good friend that I am - drag myself there. ha! She looks at gems and I look at stones. I wish I was a jewelry maker, but I can't do everything now can I???? But I did buy a turquoise necklace. And I got some watches for $6. Also got some more hand charms for those dolls I'm going to make one day.
I have a little wooden church birdhouse that I usually cram the door shut every summer with a paper towel or cotton to keep the wasps out...but a small bird has set up housekeeping there already. I guess I'm going to have to slide the grill over slightly or we will have baked wrens. If anyone knows what kind of bird this is...tell me. She or he is quick so these are not the best pictures. Won't the babies be fun to photograph!
Yes, that's him sticking his head out before he flew away for more pine needles. I've only seen the one...of course it's not like our beloved Cardinals - Henry and Louise - it's hard to tell male from female on this one.

The Love Squared Doll
The Pink Artist Doll - the Reveal is up! Be sure and go see it. She is beautiful. I am so happy that I participated in this... my little square is very simple. I just stitched a crocheted flower onto a square and added a few beads. My mother crocheted all her life. I have a few little crochet flowers that are loose that she made and I used one of those. I have tons of her crochet....but only a few that are in pieces like that. I wrote on the back of my square that it is dedicated to the memory of my mother who died in October of 2003 of lung cancer. She would have wanted to be a part of this doll project.
As you scroll down the page looking at the doll, you will come to the words Do you spot Your square? Mine is in the picture right above those words. You are going to love this doll and her dress.
