The wonderful thing about inchies

is they are soooooo addictive!
I'm hosting a Valentine inchie swap over on Christian Paper Artists Yahoo Group and the last ones should arrive today. I will take some pictures before I mail them out. They had to be done in red, black or white. that was harder than I thought...but they are all turning out great. The ones above are mine. I only had to make 24, but once you get started it's hard to stop. So I have extras for my "valentines"!!!!

The ones with the little hearts in the middle are simply "cut-outs" that show the image or writing behind the opening. I used a Two Peas in a Bucket font called 2 Peas GGs Love Me for some of the graphics!!!

Runway

I can't believe they sent Victorya home on Project Runway. I thought Jillian would be OUT. I didn't like either of their designs last night, but still..... Victorya normally does great stuff. WHO do you think will win? I think Christian stands a very good chance. He is so young, but gosh he always makes something great. How could Victorya be gonnnnnnne????

I finished my pages for the "tip-in" swap on Christian Paper Artists Yahoo Group! I had to do 6 pages. The thing to do is make six of the same page. I always find that so hard to do and it's not as if I don't have a lot of stuff that needs to be "used up". This page would be so simple to do over and over. And maybe I will do it again.... it's my favorite one. Do you think black wings are okay? I have gold wings...somewhere..... but the black ones were there on the desk and I think they really add something. Gold would've been pretty predictable. We were to have a Christian theme ..... I just put John 3:16 at the top .... not sure it matches the picture.... but that is a verse that shows up in crowds at ballgames and golf events. So what I'm saying is it is good in any setting! The background is a page from a Gregg's Shorthand book. Being a "child of the sixties" I did take two years of shorthand in high school and for many years I earned a living taking dictation. So in the very bottom right of the page I wrote in shorthand "for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son." If you write shorthand, please tell me if I wrote "world" correctly...I think I did. The woman is my Aunt June. She was about 16 when this was taken in the early 50's. She is still a joy! I use this picture A LOT! Sometimes I make a card with this picture (or the one below) and send them to her. A couple of entries ago you see this page with another female in the center.... it's her, too! But I like this one best. We are still dealing with my father-in-law. Now he wants to go back to Tyler, Texas and live in assisted living there so he can be close to his other 80 something year old friends. He will be 89 next Monday. We want him to be happy. So we are working on it. Pray for us. Patience, wisdom and compassion would all be good right now. Have a great Tuesday!

Natalea's Birthday!

Run over to Natalea's blog (Kandeland) and tell her you heard it was her birthday on Linda's blog. (that will be my gift to her!!!) ha! We met at Silver Bella and she is so sweet and could be my daughter (she's 32). We had a great time in class and shopping and eating together. Go give her a birthday hello! (Her birthday is Wed...the 16th).

Believe me...

I spent hours in the art room on Monday. None of this art stuff comes easily to me. I simply do it because I love it and I get great joy out of collage. I know I'm not all that great...and I am not fishing for compliments, so please don't leave any here. There are days that I think I should shove everything in this room into boxes and haul it either to the Purple Heart truck or put it in the trash. I mean REALLY. You wouldn't believe ALL THE STUFF I have and...I keep bringing in more. Okay...maybe you would believe because you are doing the same thing.... but I have never been so consumed by an "art endeavor" of mine. I did accumulate a lot of fabric when I was quilting.... and I still have some of it.... and I have felt and I have stuff to make dolls. I do still have a little bit of cross stitch stuff...I don't know why. I should get rid of that tomorrow. And then of course there are the boxes of things that I'm saving because I just know deep down I'm really an assemblage artist. ha I'm putting these pictures up for Nathalie. See...I really am working on the tip-in swap that is due to you very soon. I will get it done! Of course, each page is totally different. My biggest challenge right now is putting pockets on 3 pages!!! None of these are finished (except maybe the one just above here on the left. Everything else is still a work in progress, with two more to be started. Okay...whining mode off...

Old art is better than no art...

I haven't made anything new yet....but I did upload the photos on my camera today! Here are some little Christmas vignettes that I made.....in the Rebecca Sower tradition.... and sent as RAKs to some girls on my RAK List in December. They are old postcard images that I embellished and put glitter all around. I bought a kind of "crystal" garland cheap before Christmas and took it apart to use to hang from these kinds of things. They all have that piece, plus a tiny red jingle bell hanging from the bottom.

Change

I've been a little busy.
We are moving my father-in-law to an independent living facility
close to us. He doesn't need to live alone in a big old house almost
4 hours away any longer. He may have had a slight stroke, but
is so much better the last two days. So hopefully he will get a good
report today! I shall return!
The two in the dark blues are niece and nephew of mine. So this is
him with 4 of his grandchildren.
